In her debut poetry collection, Amelia delves into the complex mental wars that ensue after a breakup. She encapsulates the struggle of trying to process losing someone whilst still being in love with them. Amelia showcases the conflicting emotions of despondency and nostalgia. Throughout her storytelling, she conveys her healing journey and realizing that life will actually move forward; and that it is a good thing.
“this chapter of my life
has built up to this moment
the culminating point of it all
my final realization
no matter how much i love you
it will never be enough
AND THAT IS OKAY
because you never deserved to know me in the first place”
—from Somewhere in La La Land
