I Almost Didn’t Make It is a raw memoir about surviving the things that were supposed to break you. Built like a concept album and scored by the music that carried him-Pink Floyd, Tupac, Immortal Technique—Matt Camilleri-Flynn traces the bricks that formed his wall: childhood loss, bullying, first heartbreaks, betrayal, addiction, and the nights he didn’t want to wake up. It is the story of the almosts that defined him and the long uneven work of stepping outside the wall. Honest, unflinching, and ultimately about choosing to stay, this book is for anyone who has ever had to fight their own mind to keep going. He almost didn’t make it. Here’s what happened when he did.
Matt Camilleri-Flynn is a writer from Northern Ontario. He grew up in and around Sudbury and never expected to live long enough to tell this story. After years of mental health struggles, addiction, loss, and the kind of betrayals that change a person, he started writing as a way to make sense of what he survived. I Almost Didn’t Make It, is his first book-a raw account of the walls he built, the almosts that nearly ended him, and the decision to keep going. He now works to help others facing similar challenges and still believes life can look up even after the darkest chapters. This book is his way of saying he made it-almost didn’t, but did.
