There is something to be said for the legend of a phantom. The reason we tell ghost stories to each other is perhaps because we all feel the unresolved so keenly. Maybe we feel like an outsider or that the things we wanted in life are over. If so, how do we move on in the face of tragedy? I Am Just a Ghost is a collection of poems encapsulating the deep, human struggle of navigating through grief and trauma and the pieces we are left with. The dreams left unrealized; the longings left unspoken, the lives we never lived. Through her work, the author hopes to reach and give hope to those who feel these "phantoms" haunting them every day. Because when the worst in life makes us feel like we are the ghost story, there is still hope beyond the pain.
Ms. Shelby Egnew is a debut author living and working in the Nashville, TN area. She graduated in 2020 with a B.S. in Early Childhood/Special Education and now teaches preschool, dance and theatre. Throughout her academic career, she has studied the elements of writing and gained a strong love for the spoken word. She turned to writing her own books and poetry in 2022 and can't wait to share her work with the world.
