Growing up I ate a lot of the same things, I was a pretty picky eater and had never learned much about cooking, let alone making it from scratch or about preserving it. Once I got older, I was exposed to cooking that always tasted so good with a variety of meats, veggies and flavors. I married a hunter and fisherman and discovered the world of truly free-range food. I learned about foraging & gardening and started off small. Then inflation happened and food preservation became more than a hobby and is more of a daily routine. I had kids and I learned what was in almost all the processed food in the stores. It made me want to start processing it at home with ingredients I could pronounce. Then I learned so many things can be made at home, made from scratch! As I continued to collect the recipes and write them down, I realized how important this was. How much I wanted others to know how to do this in their homes. What I’ve written here was collected over the course of my adult life so far. It’s what I cook routinely for my family because they enjoy it, and I truly do as well.
