About The Book

"Beneath The Weeping Willow" is a fantasy novel set in a world where the Great Willow Tree stands as a symbol of life and protection for the wood elves. The story follows Ilana, a princess of the southern wood elf colony, as she navigates the responsibilities of her royal life, the bonds of her family, and the growing desire for adventure. The tree, believed to hold the key to the elves' ancestral history, is threatened by dark forces seeking to harness its power for control over all races. As Ilana's life unfolds amidst the serenity of her homeland, she begins to question the true nature of honor, power, and the price of protecting what she holds dear. Through lush descriptions and intricate world-building, the novel explores themes of duty, change, and the enduring strength of family and tradition.

About The Author

My name is Makayla Nietzel, and I was born on May 8th, 2003. Despite being legally blind due to albinism and visual impairments, I've never allowed these challenges to define me. I proudly represented the U.S. as a swimmer at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, which took place in 2021 after being postponed due to COVID-19. Alongside my athletic achievements, I've nurtured a deep love for English. This passion led to the publication of my free verse poem, "Park in Crepuscule," in my college's literary magazine. I am committed to pursuing my dream of becoming both an author and an English teacher.
