By human nature, people have always tried to conquer land that was never theirs to take. Humans are greedy that way. But conquering land and wanting something from that land never did stop just in their realm. The people wanted this power that wasn't made for them and wouldn't stop till they have it for themselves, well, at least they thought they could...
Cricket, a sixteen year old boy, wasn't planning on everything to end up like this when he ran away from home that night, and he surely didn't expect to drag his two best friends, Rocket and Moss, into possible danger as well. He just didn't want to be forced to live with his mother for the rest of the summer... But now, he cannot go back on the forces that pushed him through that portal in the river.
"I've never seen this place before. Where are we?" I picked a rock up, skipping it on the river.
"Maybe I could help you,"
A three viewpoint story of a boy, the boy's father, and a warlock as they all are having to deal with the problems Humans have caused in a different realm, even if not all of them are exactly there. Will Cricket ever see his father again? Will Cricket's father ever see his son again? And will the Warlock ever see the freedom of his people? Read to find out!
R. Solace. B, a trans and queer writer that started the creation of River in the Meadow in 2020, at the age of 13. The world that R. Solace created had taken years to make fully set in stone. There have been a lot of changes and rewrites along the way, but finally it came to life when they turned 17, when they published their book for the world to see and enjoy. "I wanted to show the representation of different communities that I do and do not belong to, and people that aren't always written about, fictional or not. My characters mean the universe to me, as do the people that inspired and encouraged me to continue my writing and art everyday of my life. And I hope for more in the foreseeable future. I love the feeling of storytelling and wish to share that with others."
