Hymns of Fragility is an unflinchingly honest poetry collection that explores the profound depths of loss, trauma, grief, and the arduous journey toward healing. This is not a self-help guide offering easy answers, but rather an intimate chronicle of thoughts and reflections born from one person’s struggle to navigate overwhelming pain.
Written during seasons of depression, trauma therapy, and suicidal ideation—while riding the unpredictable currents of antidepressant and anxiety—this collection emerged as both lifeline and witness. The poems function as journal entries, capturing the raw emotions and unfiltered feelings of someone learning to survive their darkest moments.
From sleepless nights filled with racing thoughts to the aftermath of nightmares, from unexpected moments of joy to the vast emptiness between extremes, the author chronicles it all with brutal honesty. Hymns of Fragility documents the process of learning to find one’s voice again—discovering how to sing from within during seasons of profound vulnerability while searching for strength in the midst of breaking.
This collection offers no easy comfort, but instead provides the solidarity of shared experience for anyone who has walked through similar darkness and wondered if they would emerge whole. This is a poetry collection for those who need permission to break before they heal.
Nyandea Lansana is a Sierra Leonean-Canadian writer whose love of reading began in childhood, first in the small ritual of reading labels, then in the discovery of fantasy, mystery, and thriller novels. Writing has consistently served as a vital creative anchor through life’s uncertainties. Currently pursuing a degree in Communication and Political Science at the University of Ottawa, Lansana brings a unique perspective to her craft. Hymns of Fragility, her debut poetry collection, is the culmination of years spent transforming personal experiences and emotions into compelling narratives, marking her emergence as a powerful new voice in contemporary poetry.
